About
Surgeon, data scientist, and human factors researcher — in one.

Emma Howie is a general surgery trainee and clinician-researcher completing a PhD in medical informatics at the University of Edinburgh. Her research focuses on cognitive load and surgical performance — specifically, how physiological data can be used to measure and improve what happens in high-pressure clinical environments in real time.
Metriqx applies that methodology commercially: bringing the same rigour used to validate clinical tools in academic settings into health technology investment and procurement decisions.
